Standby power infrastructure runs on an assumption: the fuel will be there and ready when it's needed. In reality, that fuel often sits untouched in bulk storage for months or years, waiting for an outage that may never come, or for the next scheduled load test.
That's where fuel quality becomes a real risk. Large-volume diesel storage doesn't get cycled through the way a working fleet tank does. Over long periods of dormancy, water contamination and fuel degradation can build up without anyone noticing. If the fuel has degraded by the time the generator is called on, you're not looking at a minor inconvenience. You're looking at a failed start during an outage, at a hospital, data centre, or facility where continuous power isn't optional. That's the problem a fuel polishing system solves.
